I have 7 thesis to finish marking within a week's time, meaning 1 thesis in a day. This is a pretty demanding task for me considering, in the norm, I usually take 2-3 days to mark an undergraduate thesis. Perhaps I am too meticulous and corrects every grammer as well as content error that I come across. One colleague told me it takes her 2hrs straight to finish marking a thesis, I could not possible achieve this level of speed reading. As it is, my best record is 1 thesis a day, to justify student spending close to 3-4 months writing their thesis. Good thesis are easy to the eyes and relaxing to the brain, but an average thesis requires more effort on my part as an examiner, to try accounting for every single marks deduction. Thesis marking is not all stressful, this time round the content are quite humorous. I have this line on the abstract of one thesis that says '...A total of 185 mothers of an infant were surveyed...' another statement '...antimicrobial resistance E.coli bacteria...'try figure this one out.
A lot of students did not do well in discussion. Discussion is elaborating and explaining the results obtained and comparing experimental results obtained with that reported in the literatures, many students write paragraphs after paragraphs of introducing the principles of methodology, basically stating the obvious....and repeating what has already been mentioned in the methodology section...
